Come and Garden With Us
We are not looking for rescuers. We are looking for gardeners โ people who are willing to show up, be present, get their hands dirty, and trust that the seeds they plant will grow long after they leave.
What Volunteering Looks Like
CGH welcomes volunteers across a wide range of skills and interests. Whether you come for two weeks or two months, whether you are a student or a retired professional, there is a meaningful role for you here.
Support our teachers in primary or secondary school. Help with tutoring, homework, or literacy. Share a skill โ music, art, coding, cooking โ that expands what the children believe is possible for them.
Coach football, volleyball, or basketball. Lead games and activities. Learn traditional Kenyan dance from the children โ you may leave having gained more than you gave.
Support the home's first aid and preventive healthcare needs. Assist with health checks, medical supplies, and hygiene education for 400+ children.
CGH is always building โ new classrooms, renovations, maintenance. If you have skills in architecture, engineering, or construction, your expertise is directly needed.
Help develop CGH's social enterprises โ Tartfully Yours, the cafรฉ, the chicken farm, the Naivasha farm. Or support local families in building sustainable livelihoods.
Help with grant writing, fundraising proposals, photography, videography, or social media. If you can tell stories, CGH has stories worth telling.
Work on CGH's farming and animal husbandry programmes โ at the main compound or at the Naivasha farmland. Get your hands in the soil and help grow the food that feeds 400+ children.
Every garden needs different things at different times. Tell us who you are and what you can offer โ we'll find a place for you.
What Volunteers Say
"Our 2 months of voluntary experience in Children's Garden Home has been tremendously delightful and meaningful for me and my family. Moses and Sylvia hosted us like family. Knowing the children well and understanding the daily challenges of the home has allowed us to offer assistance and devise aid programmes of relevance and significance. There is so much to be done."
โ Tai Jin Chin, Singapore volunteer"I have been supporting the Children's Garden Home for the past one year. The children here have a very strong sense of belonging. All thanks to Moses and family โ they are not just running a program for the children but they have the kids' interest at heart."
โ Mary Wambui, Voluntary Social WorkerBefore You Come
All volunteers are asked to complete a Volunteer Application Form before arrival. Email us and we will send you the form along with logistics and what to expect.
We can advise on accommodation options close to CGH in Nairobi. Some long-term volunteers choose to live within the home itself โ an experience that offers a deeper understanding of daily life at CGH.
We welcome volunteers for any duration โ from two weeks to several months. Longer stays allow for deeper relationships and more meaningful projects.
An open heart. A willingness to be surprised. Whatever practical skills you have. And patience โ gardens do not grow overnight.
